With a new AI agent that can manage apps, browse the web, and perform tasks in the real world, ChatGPT goes beyond simple chat.
A new AI agent for ChatGPT has been released by OpenAI. It is intended to interact with websites and related apps to carry out multi-step, real-world tasks. Users on the Pro, Plus, and Team tiers will now be able to access the feature as of Thursday.
OpenAI’s previous efforts with agentic features, such as “Operator,” which could interact with websites, and “Deep Research,” a tool that assisted in automating intricate information collection, are built upon by the AI agent. ChatGPT now has features that go well beyond simple conversational prompts or query answers thanks to this version.
For example, OpenAI’s agent may design and order a wedding outfit online by taking into account the venue, dress code, and weather forecast. It accomplishes this by operating in a virtual computer environment that allows it to communicate in real time with online tools and services.
Additionally, ChatGPT may now connect to user apps like GitHub and Gmail. Through these platforms, the agent can retrieve pertinent emails, code repositories, or documents to aid in the more efficient completion of duties.
This action puts OpenAI in line with other significant IT companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle, who are making significant investments in AI agents to boost worker efficiency and cut expenses.
